He was the First Wicket keeper for World Cup in 1975.He also played in 1983 World Cup.He was the ninth wicket partner with Mr.Kapil Dev and made a world record of 126 runs for ninth wicket in world cup 1983 against Zimbabwe.This record is still on. He won the award of Best Wicket Keeper in The World Cup 1983.
He also made record for Ninth wicket with Mr.Gavaskar(236*) for 143* in Test match at Madras.
He was Chairman Of Selection Committee 2003/04.
He was awarded Padma Shri in 1982.

The OneDay International Indian Captain.

As a Captain of One Day International He Played 74 matches,40 matches he  won ,lost 32 and no result 2.Total He played 225 matches. The details of his scoring & bowling are given in the tables.
He was captain for World Cup 1983 & 1987.He was the Only Indian Captain won World Cup.

During World cup 1983,

India played with Zimbabwe and won the toss & elected to play batting. At one time India was 17runs for 5 wicket all top player collapsed ( Gavaskar 0, Srikanth 0 ,Mohinder Amarnath 5, Sandeep Patil 1 Yashpal Sharma 9 ).Kapil Dev stood and scored 126 runs for 9 wicket this is  the current world record. Finally he got 175 runs not out for 138 balls. He batted the best performance in this match and got 16 fours and 6 sixes. This was the best performance of captain ship. India won the Zimbabwe by 31 runs

After the won of Zimbabwe They played with Australia and entered Semi Final and played with England.

Final was played against West Indies .India took 183 runs and West Indies took only 140 runs lost to India.This was their Hat trick win of World Cup for West Indies, But with great efforts of Mr.Kapil Dev ,India got the World Cup In 1983.

One of The Indian Test Match Captains.

He was born on 7 July 1981 in Ranchi, Jharkhand State separated from Bihar, India.
He is Wicket keeper cum right hand Batsman and also occasionally bowling.
He is First Indian Test Cricketer and Captain without losing any test match for 11 test continuously and made world record. He brought India to First Rank in Test Cricket Rank.
He is First Indian Captain to achieve the Highest Test Match score of 726 for 9 declared against Sri Lanka Tour in India In 2009.The win of 2-0 test match against Sri Lanka brought India to 1 Rank in Test Cricket History.He is the second Indian Captain to dismal of 6 wickets ( all catches)in a innings after Mr.Syed Kirmani(5 catches & 1 stumped) as wicket keeper.He become Indian Test wicket keeper in 2005 after Mr.Dinesh Karthik.

In 2007 in his captain-ship India won the ICC world Twenty20 held in South Africa and become very famous.He won the CB series in 2008.Border-Gavaskar Trophy in 2008 beat the Australia 2-0.In 2010 He captained Chennai Super King (Tamil Win) and won IPL 2010 Twenty20 match.He is currently Captain of Test Match,ODI & Chennai Super King.
