Former Pakistan Captain Asif Iqbal is relative to him (Uncle).

Tennis Star Sania Mirza is also one of the relative to him (great-uncle).

He was born on 12 th April 1917 at Jamnagar.India.His full name is Mulvantrai Himmatlal Mankad.He was right hand batsman and slow left arm bowler. He was scored highest of 231 against New Zealand at Chennai in 1956 with Mr.Pankaj Roy ; set world record of highest of 413 of opening batsman. This stood for 52 year to break this record.He was one of the Indian Captains.

His partnership of 577 run was the highest ever with Mr.Gul Mohamed at Baroda in 1946/47.

He dismissed Mr.Don Bradman thrice in his carrier.

He was one of the popular Indian Captains.

HE WAS THE ONLY PERSON HIT FIRST CENTURY DURING THAT PERIOD & LED THE INDIAN TEAM AFTER INDEPENDENCE TO AUSTRALIA IN 1947-48.

HE WAS THE FIRST TEST MATCH CAPTAIN OF AFTER INDEPENDENCE.

HE WAS ALSO A GOOD BOWLER & DISMISSED THE GREAT BATSMAN OF AUSTRALIA MR.DONALD BRADMAN BY HIT WICKET.

DURING HIS CAPTAINSHIP INDIA WON THE PAKISTAN FOR THE FIRST TIME AND MADE HISTORY IN 1952 AT DELHI.

TOTAL PLAYED 15 TEST MATCHES 2 WON,6 LOST,7 DRAWN.THE 2 MATCHES WON WERE AGAINST PAKISTAN.

HIS SONS MR.MOHINDER & MR.SURINDER WERE PLAYED IN INDIAN CRICKET.He was one of the Indian Captains.

HE DIED ON 5.08.2000.

HE IS GRAND FATHER OF SAIF ALI KHAN & SOHA ALI KHAN .

HE WAS MADE CAPTAIN IN THE YEAR 1936 TO TOUR ENGLAND FOR INDIA TEAM AND LAST MINUTE HIS CAPTAIN SHIP WAS CANCELLED.HE BECOME CAPTAIN IN 1946 AFTER 10YEARS AND PLAYED 3 TEST AGAINST ENGLAND.LAST 1 & DRAWN 2.

HE WAS THE PLAYER OF HOCKEY & BILLIARDS.

HE WORKED IN INDIAN FOREST OFFICE AFTER INDEPENDENCE TILL TO DEATH AT DELHI ON 5 TH JAN 1952.
