He was one of Indian Captains for only one match and won the match against West Indies in 1988.

He was right hand batsman and left arm spinner. He was in the cricket for 12 years and started his carrier early at age of 18.He was opening batsman for sometime and middle order in sometime and not fixed his line of batsman. He was good bowler. He took 509 wickets in his carrier.

He was UNICEF Ambassador. He was temporarily worked as coach for Indian team in 2007.
